"Garden
of Temptation"
10.5 ft x 5 .25 ft, Terra cotta, glazes,smalti, italian gemme and opaque glass
tile and handmade clay tiles.
The "Garden of Temptation" fireplace surround was designed for the
Great Room at a farm estate in Wisconsin. The surround depicts Adam and Eve,
the garden serpent and at the center of it all, the irresistable apple. The
figures and the serpent were built in sections in terra cotta clay, then fired
and refired with low fire glazes. The mosaic is made of smalti glass,and Italian
glass tile, and handmade clay tiles. Tha apple is made out of terra cotta and
covered with an opaque art glass. Completed in Spring 2003.
