WORKSHOPS

SMALTI WORKSHOP INTENSIVES

Saturday April 9, 9am-3pm
Saturday May 7, 9am-3pm
Saturday June 11, 9am-3pm

Smalti is one of the oldest and most original materials of mosaic art. This thick glass tile holds light the way no other material can. Our exquisite smalti is manufactured at the Orsoni family factory in Venice, Italy using the same ancient techniques and traditions passed down through the generations. The colors of smalti are rich and offer the artist many possiblilites to achieve dynamic mosaic works of art.

In this one day intensive workshop we will explore this beautiful traditional material by teaching students how to cut and set smalti, use tools such as a hammer and hardie as well as the more contemporary wheeled cutters. Each student will create a 6"x6" framed mosaic panel. Design, color and composition will also be covered. The class includes tools, handouts, and a beautiful selection of Orsoni Italian smalti. This workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced students.

Fee - $140/this includes ALL materials. Please bring a lunch.

BEGINNERS MOSAIC WORKSHOP (2-DAY)
Sunday, April 3rd 10am-2pm and Sunday April 10, 10-12pm (FULL)
Sunday, June 5th 10am-2pm and Sunday June 12th, 10-12pm

Everything you wanted to know about mosaics but were afraid to ask! This 2 day beginners intensive will cover everything budding mosaic artists need to know to get started, from materials and different kinds of adhesives to cutting and laying tile, and finally, grouting. WARNING: Creating mosaics may be addictive and cause habit forming urges to glue tiles onto every available surface.

Fee- $140 including all materials. Please bring a lunch to the first session.

To enroll in our classes a $50 deposit is required at least 1 week prior to class. To request information, please email mudhousestudio@aol.com.
